Is it compulsory for an organisation to be a Registered Training Organisation (RTO)?
The normal requirement is that any organisation using the TAFE VC to deliver courses and use the free courseware is required to be an RTO. Some exceptions are made e.g Schools delivering significant VCAL or VET in Schools or Victorian commercial enterprises with significant e-learning intentions.

What is the process for becoming an RTO?
RTOs operate in accordance with nationally agreed standards and are monitored through an audit process. For more information on how to become an RTO visit the Provider Registration & Audit site (http://www.otte.vic.gov.au/registration/index.htm)

What is the cost of using the TAFE VC?
There is no cost for using the general TAFE VC services. All Crown courseware is free as is the HelpDesk. Some services are charged e.g the NETg range of IT programming and applications. Any costed items form a clear additional service. There are no hidden costs.

What are the responsibilities of an RTO?
RTOs are accountable via their Performance Agreement with OTTE. Upon registration with the TAFE VC a request is made to nominate an administrator to manage the private RTO site on the TAFE VC. There is provision for professional development for the administrator.
