About
TAFE VC
What is the TAFE Virtual Campus?
The TAFE Virtual Campus (TAFE
VC) is a Victorian
Government service providing a range of e-learning tools, materials
and resources to support teachers, learners and organisations
to achieve their goals for further education, life-long learning,
professional development and employment.
Registered
Training Organisation's (RTOs)
are allocated a secure (password protected)
site within the TAFEVC. Teachers can develop
their own courses to deliver to students or request
a copy of a ready-made resource from the Online
Courseware Catalogue. This copy can then be modified
to suit the needs of the provider, teacher and
student.
Students
can look through the TAFE
Online Courses Catalogue to review the e-learning courses
on offer and then enrol online.
The TAFEVC
has 4 basic components
- An information
portal containing a range of information and links related
to e-learning and the Vocational Education and Training sector.
- A Server
containing a Learning Management System (WebCT) for Education
Providers to deliver their courses.
- An Online
Courseware catalogue containing e-learning resources for Education
Providers to copy and modify.
- Help desk and Administrative Support (including
training) plus a access to a range of Professional
Development resources.

How
Secure is the TAFE VC?
When getting your information to/from the TAFE VC server,
a secure socket layer is used. This creates a secure (encrypted)
communication channel between the client and server. |
 |
Once personal
or course information is on the TAFE VC server, it is held behind
firewalls. These prevent access from unauthorised sources.
Access to student information is password protected which means
that no access is possible from hackers on the Internet. If a password
is lost, an entirely new password will be created.
